The expected start date is August 26, 2024 and will complete on June 26, 2025, or will be based upon the return of the incumbent.

The competition will remain open until May 15, 2024 at 10:00am.

G.S. Lakie Middle School serves approximately 520 students and is located on the west side of Lethbridge. Lakie is proud to support its diverse learning community through inclusive educational opportunities for all students and families to access. Lethbridge School Division is looking for individuals who demonstrate:

Subjects

G.S Lakie Middle School is seeking a Math and Science Teacher to support students in grades 7 to 8 to join their team at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong foundation in supporting students, have an unwavering belief that every child is a capable learner and will:

  • Have a background in Math and Science;
  • Have strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills;
  • Have the ability to offer engaging, innovative lessons, and to differentiate to meet diverse learner needs and styles;
  • Have the ability to develop a genuine relationship with students and a willingness to connect with families;
  • Possess a passion and willingness to work with students outside of the classroom in an extra-curricular setting;
  • Have previous experience teaching at the Middle School level (considered an asset).

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
