Job Description

Our client within the Government Administration industry is seeking a Project Manager (Engineering & Construction) to join their team on a permanent full-time basis. Under the guidance of the Senior Project Advisor, the Project Manager oversees intricate and groundbreaking capital projects from their conceptualization to their operational phase. They spearhead their own projects, offering technical proficiency to fellow project managers while engaging with consultants, contractors, and various stakeholders, both internal and external, including regulatory bodies and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the execution of complex capital projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to schedule, scope, and budget.
  2. Represent Halton Region in public engagements, presentations, and interactions with stakeholders, including the public, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  3. Review engineering designs to meet standards and industry best practices.
  4. Research and propose adoption of new technologies, methodologies, and materials for infrastructure projects.
  5. Direct and supervise consulting engineers and contractors throughout project phases.
  6. Obtain necessary regulatory approvals and permits, tracking and managing them effectively.
  7. Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration for project implementation.
  8. Maintain cost and schedule control of capital projects.
  9. Ensure compliance with contract documents and health and safety policies during construction.
  10. Contribute to value engineering exercises and resolve public complaints promptly.
  11. Prepare reports for Regional Council and contribute to the enhancement of design criteria and project delivery manuals.
  12. Participate in long-term capital program planning and mentor junior staff.
  13. Collaborate with other Project Managers and stakeholders within the organization.
  14. Represent the Section on relevant committees as required.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with Professional Engineering License (P. Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) accreditation. Minimum six years of relevant experience in design, construction, project management, and commissioning of infrastructure projects. Proficiency in project management, strategic planning, and problem-solving. Excellent communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills. Thorough understanding of technical engineering and construction principles. Familiarity with relevant standards and legislation.

Preferred:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent.
  • Experience in engineering design and drawing preparation.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the field.
