Based in Espanola , ON , the Survey Technician will report to the Survey Crew Chief and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on conventional surveying services. You will be part of a team that provides a full range of traditional surveying services as well as construction monitoring, precision layout, and high-definition 3D laser scanning.

What You’ll Do:

The Survey Technician will be part of the Geomatics team. You will:

  • Organize field equipment and supplies
  • Ensure all field equipment is accounted for and maintained in good working order
  • Demonstrate the essential skills related to the use of all field equipment used to perform job responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection of field data using various survey instruments, levels, and GPS field equipment
  • Clear away bush and trees from lines of a survey as needed

Who You Are:

  • You are proficient in the use of various survey instruments, calculators, levels, and GPS field equipment or have the aptitude to learn
  • You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork
  • You make decisions and exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
  • You can pivot and alter approach to accomplish desired results
  • You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
  • You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success

What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a college program in Civil Engineering Technician or Technology or have equivalent experience. Additionally, you should have:

  • High motivation with results-oriented focus
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
  • A valid, Class G driver’s licence
