Hydrogen Research Development Project Engineer

Reporting to the R&D Manager, this position is responsible for the development of SSES’s proprietary technologies including but not limited to the Automated Coanda Screen Cleaner, Hydrogen Supply Chain Feasibility, High performance Coanda Screen Bars, and Penstock Cleaner.

Primary Responsibility:

Your position will be Research and design Engineer (EIT). This position is considered to be a management position with the goal of assuming leadership related to SSES’s contracts in the Squamish region and minimizing my involvement over a logical time period. Your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project Engineer on Hydrogen Supply Chain Feasibility: SSES is actively working on determining the econimical feasibility of Hydrogen production and sales as a business. Currently, we are at the feasibility stage determining costs and potential revenue generated by Green hydrogen produced by existing Hydro projects. Responsibilities and tasks are outlined below:

  • Identify & develop new business opportunities and partnerships within the hydrogen industry
  • Engage with external stakeholder and customers to secure hydrogen offtake agreements
  • Continue to refine and establish pricing strategies for hydrogen production, supply, and consumption
  • Identify & develop new business opportunities and partnerships within the hydrogen industry
  • Engage with external stakeholder and customers to secure hydrogen offtake agreements
  • Engage with communities and municipalities to garner interest in new projects.
  • Become SSES’s resident hydrogen technology expert. Develop a strong fundamental understanding on what is required to develop, construct, commission, and operate a project
  • Continue to refine and establish pricing strategies for hydrogen production, supply, and consumption
  • Work with industry experts across multiple disciplines in order to develop economic models used to justify and support alternative energy projects. This includes development costs, construction costs, and lifetime operating and maintenance costs. 

Project Engineer on Automated Coanda Screen Cleaners:

  • Manage and lead development, sales, installation, and operation of Coanda Screen Cleaners
  • Drive new business and sales through customer engangement
  • Networking to expand our reach within Canada, USA, UK, and Europe
  • Monthly progress reporting and cost reporting on Coanda Cleaners
  • Continually progress and refine the Coanda Cleaner technology
  • Procure and install new systems
  • From initial discussions (BD) to installation and commissioning
  • Expect to be hands on through the installation and commissioning 
  • PLC and electrical knowledge is an asset
  • Maintain and support existing installations 
  • Maintain customer relations

SSES is a small innovative company pursuing many different businesses relating to renewable and clean energy technologies. You will be wearing many different hats working for SSES. Below are key characteristics and requirements that would be of value:

  • Mechanical engineering degree or similar
  • Must hold and active membership or be elgible to register as a member with EGBC
  • Independent drive to complete and progress projects
  • Independent drive to pursue new endeavors as it relates to industry and business carried out by SSES
  • This position requires in office attendance and does not support working from home
  • Located in Squamish, BC
  • Must posess mechanical and electrical skills required for Coanda cleaner installations and development
  • Knowleadge in PLCs and electrical systems
  • Hold active passport and can travel overseas for Business Development
