Assessment Content Developer

Full Time Permanent

Hybrid role

Do you have formal training in assessment or education? Experience developing medical content or a medical background? Strong writing and presentation skills, as well as experience collaborating and editing documents?

The Assessment Content Developer leads exam content development for the MCC’s examinations and will be the first point of contact for content authors. This role facilitates committee meetings and content development workshops.

What you’ll do

  • Leads the item/case development and examination development cycles.
  • Oversees the schedules and deliverables related to their portfolio of content development activities and cycles, to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Oversees the preparation and processing of content from creation to expert reviews, edits, and translation.
  • Refreshes and maintains item/case writing manuals and guidelines.
  • Procures and manages resources and materials (e.g., clinical images, videos) related to examination content.
  • Oversees the planning of content development meetings and workshops and supports the content coordinators in the preparation and coordination of these meetings.
  • Facilitates in-person and online content and assessment development workshops (e.g., item/case writing/review, test form approval, standard setting) with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Works with Training Specialists as they lead the development of new and revised content for assessment training products.

What you need to succeed

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience with the full assessments/test development cycle
  • Experience with leading committees and group facilitation
  • Ability to plan and execute projects on time and in an efficient manner
  • Experience in editing content in English
  • Experience with medical content and/or a medical background an asset
  • Experience with multiple-choice and performance-based clinical exams (e.g., OSCEs) would be considered an asset

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of assessment industry best practices for examination content development
  • Familiarity with psychometric theories, concepts, and principles
  • Familiarity with learning methodologies, including competency-based education
  • Demonstrated skill with digital technologies and ease with online programs
  • Strong skills in MS Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Basic skills in database applications an asset
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and SMEs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to plan, organize, and problem-solve

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Measurement and Evaluation, Education, Adult Learning, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience related to the field of assessment content development

Language:

  • Advanced oral and written skills in English, advanced oral and written skills in French is considered a strong asset
