Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) is a 100 percent, Indigenous-owned, diversified investment, venture capital and management holding company, with a wealth of experience growing leading businesses in a variety of industries. IDC’s Board of Directors is seeking a new President to fulfill a mandate that includes oversight and monitoring of profitable and well-run subsidiary businesses, incrementally improving subsidiaries where opportunities exist, and overhauling a couple of stagnating subsidiary businesses. The President will also seek new business opportunities, partnerships, joint ventures, and/or acquisitions to help expand IDC’s portfolio.

Based in Inuvik, NWT and reporting to the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) Board of Directors, the President will provide leadership to a small and agile team to deliver centralized strategic planning, monitoring and support of subsidiary business operations, lifecycle forecasting of business holdings, and prospecting/evaluation of potential acquisition opportunities. The President will also continue to draw upon the resources of the parent, IRC, while learning Inuvialuit culture and values and making decisions that support the organization’s threefold objective: drive profits from subsidiaries, provide employment opportunities for Inuvialuit, and generate commercial opportunities for Inuvialuit-owned business (sub-contractors, JV partners, etc.). Inuvialuit are an enterprising people who appreciate the need for profits while also pursuing social needs and providing critical services and infrastructure to their settlement region in the Northern NWT.

In the short-term the President will work with subsidiary management and/or Boards to ensure that IDC’s businesses are run effectively and appropriately and will work to significantly increase the profitability of IDC. The President will also target and evaluate acquisition prospects, developing joint venture partnerships, and identify new greenfield business opportunities to pursue.

You are an exceptional business leader with general management skills who has demonstrated success operating, growing, building, and/or acquiring profitable businesses. You have experience including multi-industry exposure and may come from a family office, investment/holding company, private equity firm or growth-oriented, diversified corporate environment. Strong, demonstrated business oversight expertise including P&L accountability, marketing, business development, and strategic planning. Your experience in developing joint ventures and partnerships and understanding of contracts and contract interpretations to protect IDC’s interests will support success in this exciting role.
