Formed in 2009, OCL started their first project and began building around a business model focused on “People” and “Doing the Job Right”. We are currently recruiting for a QA/QC Inspector with civil experience to join our team and support our client, Dow Chemical. This position will work Monday to Thursday on site, 10 hours per day, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm and 8 hours per day Friday.
Can hire as a direct employee or as a *Direct Service Provider/Sub Contractor.

The Project
Dow Chemical Canada is taking initiatives to increase production capacity and reduce carbon emissions as part of its sustainability goals. In this context, Dow has initiated the FS PATH2ZERO Program to decarbonize and grow production ~3MM mta of low to zero carbon emissions C2 derivatives at its Fort Saskatchewan facilities in Canada. The overall program includes an ethylene plant, derivative plants (five world scale polyethylene units) and their associated decarbonization scope. These assets are targeted to startup in the latter half of 2027 for the Program Phase 1 and in 2029 for the Program Phase 2.
This contract for OCL would be the early works and block grading preparation for the construction of the new units as highlighted below:
Civil Site prep for the multiple blocks (stripping/grading)
Site improvement; Electrical tie in's, undergrounds and grounding
High mast lighting foundations and install
Minor concrete works
Complete inspections for concreting work including rebar, formwork, embeds, anchor bolts, overall readiness for pours, pouring activities, post-pour inspections for repairs
Complete and verify other inspections and tests for project work scopes
Coordinate with the client on project specific activities, including inspections and review of documentation for final acceptance.
Ensure procedures are established to provide traceability from initial order to field installation.
Develop written plans and procedures for project specific activities to supplement task planning.
Interpret drawings and specifications for field crews and craft during scope execution to ensure understanding and compliance
5+ years heavy industrial civil earthworks experience
~ Minimum 5 years experience in quality control in heavy industrial civil construction
~ Able to read and interpret civil drawings
~ 2 is an asset
~ Competent knowledge in ASME Codes, CSA Code, and Building Code
~ Proficient with computer programs, including Bluebeam and Microsoft Office, Google Suite,
~ Understands Quality Inspection Procedures, Tools and Equipment.
~ Must be able to climb scaffolding, access trenches and work in variable weather conditions.
~ Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test
~ Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
