Staff Software Engineer

Job Title : Staff Software Engineer Location : Toronto, Ontario Job Type : Full Time Our Client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to take ownership of designing and developing complex, multi-platform application systems. This is an exciting opportunity to lead technical architecture, establish best practices, and mentor engineering teams while driving innovation and scalability. What You’ll Do: Collaborate with a dynamic team throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. Act as a tech lead, owning technical design and development for cross-functional, fault-tolerant systems. Continuously improve developer experience by identifying gaps in frameworks and tools. Define and enforce engineering best practices, including code review standards. Provide technical leadership and problem-solving expertise to ensure consistent quality. Contribute to architecture design using High-Level Design (HLD) methodology and assess emerging technologies. Mentor junior and intermediate developers on engineering standards and practices. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 8+ years of hands-on development experience, preferably with Java or other object-oriented languages. 8+ years of experience in application and/or data design, architecture, and development. Strong experience with AWS (highly preferred) or other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP). Proven ability to mentor team members and guide technical and business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of experience leading the full software development lifecycle. Experience working in an Agile environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
