Kootenay Columbia College is seeking a Program Manager & Instructor for its Traditional Chinese Medicine Programs. These programs include Acupuncturist Diploma, Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbalist Diploma, Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner Diploma and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Diploma. This position is in Nelson, BC.

Position: Program Manager & Instructor, Traditional Chinese Medicine Program.

Job Status: Full-time, Onsite

Location: Nelson, BC

Expected Start Date: September 2024

Reports to: Dean, VP Operations

Working Hours: Flexible

Salary: $ 34 - 38 Hourly

Requirement: Must be registered or qualified to register as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine licensed to practice in British Columbia, Canada, preferably fluent in English and Mandarin. If a recent graduate, candidates must have three years of clinical experience as a licensed professional.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Specifically, the Program Manager & Instructor will be responsible for:

  • Providing Leadership to the Traditional Chinese Medicine program instructors and students
  • Ensuring the program aligns with CTCMA Standards and other applicable healthcare standards in Canada.
  • Contributing to the development of curriculum and instructional materials
  • Supporting the administrative functions of the campus to enhance the student experience.
  • Delivering instruction that meets module and program objectives set out in the curriculum.
  • Evaluating student performance fairly and consistently
  • Acting in a manner that upholds the College standards.
  • Participating in College and Program Activities
  • Monitoring and reviewing students during practicum and/or clinical placements, as the program requires.

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma from a recognised University or College in Traditional Chinese Medicine
  • Five years’ experience in or the equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum of 3 years of clinical experience)
  • The candidate must have a DTCM license in the Province of BC
  • A credential in adult education or progress from an accredited post-secondary institution is an asset.
  • The candidate must have academic and clinical experience in medical Qigong and/or Tuina massage.

Skills and Abilities

  • Relevant professional skills and knowledge relating to the instruction of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement
  • Ability to provide leadership to the program and instructors.
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to model professional behaviour to students
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • High standards of behaviour, a professional attitude and commitment to quality service
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff.
  • Ability to consider and respond appropriately to students' needs, feelings and capabilities, provide feedback, and treat students equitably.
  • Learn and use technology to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Interest in pedagogical and multi-modal education approaches is an asset.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of CTCMA regulations and occupational competencies in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
