Job Description:
We are seeking two dedicated and skilled individuals to join our team as full-time Road Workers. As a Road Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our roads by participating in various construction, repair, and maintenance tasks. Reporting directly to the Glencoe Operations Centre, you will work under the guidance of the Public Works Supervisor. These roles are unionized within UNIFOR Local 414, offering a competitive salary range of $23.71 to $26.13 with a 40-hour work week.
Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual labour tasks such as shoveling, raking, and lifting heavy materials.
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of road surfaces.
  • Operating equipment including but not limited to backhoes, loaders, graders, and tandem or single-axle trucks with snowplow equipment.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Direct traffic and ensure the safety of crewmembers and the public in work zones.
  • Follow established safety protocols and procedures at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in road construction, maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid DZ driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if required.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
