This position reports to the Principal of the Structural Wind Engineering Group. The role is responsible for design, fabrication, installation and operation of electro-mechanical devices and monitoring devices for vibration control and field measurement of tall buildings and slender structures and a candidate at the Immediate or Senior Level is required.
Design or assist design of mechanical / electrical devices such as vibration dampers, mechanical-electrical devices, and testing devices;
fabrication and miscellaneous woodworking;
Checking / creating shop drawings for metal fabrication;
Field operation of mechanical / electrical devices such as actuators, motors, and controllers at construction sites;
Work with heavy machinery and power tools;
Perform field measurement of buildings or structures under vibration using accelerometer, wind velocity meter, or other sensors;
Community College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Field;
~ Hand-on experience in mechanical and/or heavy fabrication industry;
~ Experience with heavy steel fabrication and assembly;
~ Excellent understanding of mechanical and fabrication shop drawings;
~ Excellent in 3D and 2D CAD with software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc;
~ Experience working with architectural drawings;
~ Experience working with data acquisitioning system, strain gauges, accelerometers, and/or load cell will be an asset;
~ Experience with 5-axis milling machine will be an asset;
~3D printing experience will be an asset;
~ Electrical experience is an asset;
~ Construction site experience will be an asset;
~ Willing to travel for site works in other provinces outside Ontario or US, if required.
