Plumbing Technician

The incumbent is responsible for operating facility systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assigned facility within the limits of company policy and trade certification. The Technician IV – Plumber is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, security and fire protection.
Installation & Troubleshooting
Interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications to map layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems in residential and commercial buildings.
Tests pipes for leaking and other problems.
Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.
Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance activities at assigned facility.
Performs regular facility, facility plumbing systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime and safety objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facility is maintained
Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Maintains accurate inventory of all assigned tools/equipment and arranges for repair and replacement where required.
Provides observations about facility, facility plumbing conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair.
Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.

Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection and any other applicable requirements.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience required as a licensed Plumber
Strong ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
Current knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
Valid drivers’ license
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation - Required
~ Must hold a valid Journeyman level Plumbing license issued by the province in which the work is performed

Any one of the following are considered an asset:
Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1
Facilities Technician Certification through an accredited institution
This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $30.03 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
