Position Overview:

Our client is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric and telecom utility industry. We are currently looking for an Individual to join their them as a Crossing Designer/Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Detailed design of overhead distribution projects, voltages ranging from 14.4kV to 24.4kV which would include support structures replacements, non-standard design, and overhead crossings.
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations, bill of materials and design packages for distribution projects.
• Developing models and analysis of distribution lines using Pole Line Design Analysis software.
• Providing completed design packages in accordance with client design standards and relevant standards within CSA 22.3.
• Coordinating with client and other 3rd parties including other utilities, property owners and approving authorities.
• Traveling to project sites for the purpose of collecting on-site data and meeting with client representatives.
• Performing tasks allocated by Project Manager and Management

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology post secondary school. Preference given to those with a focus in structural or mechanical engineering.
• Prior engineering and design experience in either a utility transmission or distribution environment.
• Strong knowledge in the use of PLS-Cadd and PLS-Pole or equivalent software such as Spida-calc or Quickpole.
• Experience designing OH Crossings (Rail, Water, Pipeline, Highways).
• Preference will be given to candidates that have prior experience working on BC Hydro Distribution related projects.

● Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), time/project management, organization, and presentation skills
● Proficient at reading and interpreting technical design drawings and details
● Proven problem solving abilities
