Paul Y. Construction (B.C.) Ltd. (PYBC) is a privately owned real estate investment and development company fully owned and operated by the Tso family from Hong Kong. While the family originally founded Paul Y. Construction in Shanghai in the 1940s and later expanded to Hong Kong, they divested from Paul Y. in Hong Kong in the late 1980s. The family have since focused exclusively on PYBC as their primary real estate venture in Vancouver, Canada. PYBC has been active in Vancouver for the last 30 years, with a strong commitment to developing high-quality properties in prime locations. Their portfolio includes 2077 Nelson Street, Kerrisdale Parc, and Thames Court—one of the first residential developments on land owned by the University of British Columbia. Their latest project, a 392-room hotel in Downtown Vancouver, is set to become a landmark addition to the city's skyline.

As Project Director ("PD"), you will be tasked with managing PYBC's upcoming Marriott hotel development. PYBC utilizes the services of external general contractors to manage the construction of their projects, and this will therefore be an owner's representative project management position. You will lead the management, administration, and technical direction to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the project. This will include interacting closely with external consultants as well as the general contractor to manage the design, budget, schedule, and quality of construction. Attention to detail and experience with finishing is necessary, as is a solid understanding of the construction life cycle, ability to evaluate tenders, change orders, and provide recommendations to the Managing Director and EVP of Development. Overseeing FF&E procurement and installation, ensuring a seamless fit-out aligned with the hotel's brand standards. Work closely with Marriott's approval process for mock-up rooms and project compliance. In this role, you will also gain exposure to aspects of development management, making it an excellent opportunity for an PD to broaden their skillset and continue to develop professionally.

PYBC is looking for an intelligent and dynamic individual who is ready to take on the challenge of executing their upcoming hotel development. You will have a minimum of 10(+) years of construction management experience in Metro Vancouver. Candidates from both a general contracting and/or owner/developer background will be considered for this position. Prior experience in high-rise residential and/or hotel projects is necessary. Experience overseeing hotel projects and FF+E procurement is considered an asset. Professional connections and strong working relationships with consultants, general contractors, and sub-trades also considered an asset. You will be an astute negotiator, excellent communicator and someone who leads by example.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a professional yet nimble environment. PYBC's office is situated in Downtown Vancouver but has a hybrid work policy where you have the flexibility to work from home. You will be given the chance to work on what is set to be a landmark hotel development in the West End of Downtown Vancouver. You will be rewarded for your hard work with a competitive base salary of $150k - $180k along with a discretionary performance bonus and extended benefits.
