Are YOU our next Uncertified Laboratory Assistant?
We’re looking for a Uncertified Laboratory Assistant to join our Chemistry team in Kelowna, British Columbia. As an Uncertified Laboratory Assistant you will be responsible for the pre and post analytical processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions accurately and in a timely manner while ensuring quality control checks and standards are run as required.This is a permanent, full-time position working a variety of shifts between Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 9:00pm, and rotational Saturday.
Data enter all patient and test information for MOH and Private client requisitions in an accurate and timely manner
Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection
Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area
Separate specimens according to sample type, barcodes and type of test. Ensure all specimens are placed in appropriate area for testing and/or shipment to an outside laboratory
Prepare specimens , and documentation and shipping for reference testing
Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory
Prepare samples for analytical testing (aliquot, plate, centrifugation)
Archive and or dispose of samples in accordance with written policies and procedures
Excellent data entry skills required (minimum 40 words per minute)
Ability to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Knowledge of Omnitech Data Entry system/LIS
Normal office environment
Medical laboratory environment
May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use
As mandated by the BC Ministry of Health, vaccination against COVID-19 is currently an employment requirement at Dynacare – BC. 00 per hour
