The Dehcho Divisional Education Council (DDEC) invites applications for the 2023/2024 school year from certified teachers for Charels Yohin School in Nahanni Butte. This Junior Kindergarten to grade 10 school has a population of 12 students.
Chartles Yohin School currently has a full-time teaching Principal and a full-time classroom assistant and also a support assistant. The incumbent would work in partnership with them to alleviate the workload.
Nahanni Butte is a small, isolated community. Travel into the community is by air and seasonal road. Dene Language and culture are important parts of the school program supported by the community. The relationship to the land is emphasized in many aspects.
Available Positions: Teacher – Grade 6-12 (Term)

Qualifications:
The applicant:
• Must hold, or be eligible for a N.W.T. Professional Teaching Certificate
• Should have training and teaching experience in cross-cultural and multi-grade, inclusive classroom situations.
• Should have experience in promoting and organizing culturally appropriate activities.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with Daily 6, Fountas & Pinnell, Differentiated Instruction, and Self-Regulation strategies.
• The ability to teach other courses from JK-10 would be an asset.

Current and previous employers will be contacted for references. The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). Failure to provide a satisfactory check may deem you disqualified from the competition.
