What you’ll be doing

The Senior Analyst, Asset Liability Management (ALM) is responsible for supporting senior management in managing structural interest rate risk on bank’s net interest income and economic value, both within the context of delivering consistent and sustainable earnings for bank shareholders. This role will require advanced financial, risk, and strategic analyses to identify and evaluate strategic opportunities related to the management of the bank-wide structural interest risk within the risk appetite. The Senior Analyst will be part of a group accountable for providing value-add strategic analysis, as well as generating insights and authoritative recommendations for senior management.

How you’ll succeed

  • Reporting and Monitoring- Prepare in depth ALM reports to GALCO and ALMC through data compilation from multiple sources and ad-hoc analysis to effectively reflect bank’s structural interest rate risk, ensuring data accuracy and developing expertise in these sources. Support senior management in identifying daily ALM P&L and DV01 variation
  • Trading and Analysis- Execute interest rate swap trades of C$ and US$ Non-Interest Sensitive (NIS) assets/liabilities with Hedge Execution, ensuring trade accuracy through effective communication with Trade Control. Maintain and update NIS trading/reporting model. Work closely with FTP team in transferring P&L of NIS assets/liabilities to the LOB
  • Stakeholder Management- This role reports to the Senior Director, Asset Liability Management and will also work closely with the Directors, Asset Liability Management. This role also requires close partnership with Finance, FTP, Middle Office, all SBUs, Hedge Execution, and Risk Management.

Who you are

  • You have demonstrated experience. Minimum of 4 years’ experience within the industry, with strong overall knowledge of financial institutions. CFA, MBA or equivalent degree. Experience with Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) system, SQL, DVP, X-Trader and Bloomberg is beneficial. Excellent proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and ability to work with large sets of data
  • Subject Matter Expert. Knowledge of key Treasury functions, asset-liability management, regulatory capital, FTP, and liquidity, would be an asset.
  • You are confident in your knowledge. Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, and regulatory environment sufficient to interpret/analyze issues related to the management of the structural interest rate risk and develop innovative solutions to the challenges affecting the bank.
  • You understand success in the details. Strong analytic and problem-solving skills to understand, explain, and resolve business issues.
  • You put our clients and partners first. Advanced presentation/interactive skills sufficient to convey complex conceptual information/ideas on issues requiring extensive interpretation, objectivity &/or opinion. Problem-solving skills sufficient to creatively develop unique approaches and solutions to complex problems. Excellent attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to deliver results
