To learn more about Malabar Ingredients, visit Director/VP of Procurement holds a strategic position within an organization, overseeing the seamless integration of procurement, inventory management, and distribution. This role works side by side with supply chain to ensure we operate efficiently, meeting the company’s quality standards and customer demands while optimizing costs and sustainability practices. By fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders, the Director/VP of Procurement aligns the company’s objectives with its operational capabilities, ensuring that products are delivered on time and within budget. Through leadership and innovation, this position supports the company’s growth and competitiveness in the market, making it a central figure in maintaining the balance between operational excellence and strategic goals.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to)Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive Procurement strategies to optimize efficiency, cost, and quality across the organization.Negotiate and manage contracts with Principle partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and reliable supply of materials and services.Lead the integration of Procurement processes with other business functions, such as sales, marketing, finance, and production, to align objectives and enhance overall operational performance.Implement advanced analytics and procurement management tools to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and identify opportunities for process improvements.Develop and maintain sustainable and ethical sourcing practices, ensuring compliance with legal standards and corporate social responsibility commitments.Coordinate risk management efforts across the procurement portfolio, including the development of contingency plans to mitigate the impact of disruptions, shortages, or other unforeseen challenges.Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the supply chain team, encouraging innovation, professional development, and collaboration to achieve strategic goals.Represent the company in industry associations, conferences, and professional groups to stay informed of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in supply chain managementCan demonstrate strategic sourcing, global logistics management, supply chain risk management and contract negotiation expertiseTranslates business strategies into operational tactics and concrete actions taking into account business prioritiesIdentify opportunities for Distribution and Supply Chain process improvements and support management that enable optimization of customer service, cost and cashManaging Procurement Department BudgetsResponsible to build, coach and lead a strong professional procurement teamHistory of managing competitive procurement processes.Win / win builder of strategic long-standing partnerships with vendors.History of sourcing new lines and ability to extend core offerings by facilitating movement into new markets and products.QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary degree in a related field and additional formal training in Procurement & Supply Chain;Minimum 10 years operations/supply chain experience. Minimum 5 years of business experience at Director/Sr Manager level10+ years experience in food manufacturing and distribution environment;Thorough knowledge of a manufacturing environment is required;Global supply chain management, technology integration experienceFoster a deep understanding of logistics, procurement, and inventory managementKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTSExceptional organizational skills are a must;Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;Strong interpersonal skills;Attention to detail is essential;Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and resolve discrepancies in a reasonable amount of time;Strategic planner and proactive thinkerCommitment to continuous improvement;Strong leadership in creating positive work culture Proven negotiation skills
