We are currently seeking a versatile and talented Electrical Design Engineer with a robotics focus. If you are a highly motivated engineer who is passionate about developing mobile robots and underwater drones this might be the job for you. In this role, you will work with a team of passionate engineers/developers and touch all aspects of the hardware that makes our robots operate. If you want to work on cool things with good people on problems that matter, then Deep Trekker might be the place for you.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, bring up and test, electronic circuits and PCBs for all robotic platforms, topside systems and peripherals.Ability to design for high-speed digital, power systems and various interfaces.Component selection, schematic and layout design, preparation of Gerber, BOM and other manufacturing files.Engage directly in production processes and provide support for service-related tasks.Perform board bring-up, debug and troubleshooting with lab equipment.Electronics board characterization and system-level tests.Thorough validation of design against component and system requirements.Lead and participate in engineering design reviews.Hands-on hardware bring-up and system debugging.Understand and design for overall system requirements including, electrical, mechanical, firmware and communication needs.Support products throughout the full product life cycle, including component obsolescence.Collaborate with cross-functional technical team, including firmware developers and systems engineers.Skills and Qualifications:University degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechatronics, or related field.Proficiency with EAGLE or other industry standard PCB design tools.Thorough understanding of multilayer PCB layout design practices.Experience designing, implementing and verifying Ethernet interfaces and Ethernetswitches.Knowledge of networking protocols (UDP, TCP/IP) and a general idea of how the internet works.Experience developing microcontroller based PCBs and delivering hardware configurations to firmware teams using vendor tools.Strong ability to problem solve and find root causes.Demonstrated experience working with serial interfaces including RS232, RS485, I2C, and SPI.Strong understanding and practical application of various motor and sensor interfaces commonly used in relevant industries.Experience designing, bringing up and troubleshooting PCBs/PCBAs.True, demonstrated passion for technical development and continuous learning.Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.Assets:Familiarity with robotics and mechatronic systems.Familiarity with Firmware and STM32 family of microcontrollers.Experience in CAD modeling and integrating electrical components into 3D designs.Understanding of control concepts.Experience working with Lithium batteries.Experience with embedded Linux.Comfortable with Git.Deep Trekker is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity in the workplace.
