*Buy Low Foods and Nesters Market *are currently seeking an experienced *Bakery Department Managers* for our stores across the entire *Lower Mainland area, BC*. This role is full-time and reports to the Store Manager.We are looking for a strong leader who has a passion for fresh food and who can efficiently oversee the daily operations of the Bakery Department in terms of staffing, sales, customer service, merchandising, and product quality.*Job Duties and Responsibilities:** Provide supervision to department staff to ensure quality customer service* Maximize sales and gross profit through effective and creative merchandising* Maintain department inventory by placing product orders regularly while adhering to departmental budgets* Recruit, hire, train, and mentor staff members* Create the weekly department work schedule* Prepare and package a wide variety of baked goods* Efficiently stock and display product in a neat and appealing manner to ensure quality and freshness* Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated* Ensure the proper set up of racks, tables, coolers, backroom areas* Handle customer inquiries, requests and complaints in a prompt, polite and effective manner* Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner* Comply with the Company’s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies* Responsible for ensuring accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing* Liaise with the store manager, department heads and bakery staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads or promotions, cross merchandising, etc.*Skills and Qualifications:** Previous retail supervisory experience, preferably in a Bakery / Grocery environment* Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner* Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers* Exceptional leadership and organizational skills* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills* Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure* Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations* Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales* Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock* Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidaysWork Conditions and Physical Capabilities* Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks for extended periods of time* Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye co-ordination* Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times*Our commitment to you:** Competitive wages with starting rates based on experience* Yearly bonus incentives* Room for advancement - all new opportunities posted internally first* Company matched RRSP Program* For full time, permanent positions: Comprehensive benefits package including Dental, Extended Health, Vision, Life & DisabilityIf you feel that you possess the knowledge, skills and abilities mentioned above then we would love to hear from you*More than one way to apply** In person: *Meet our hiring team on May 24th 10am-4pm at 288 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC** Online: Respond to this job ad to apply in confidence directly to the Hiring Team* Please include a cover letter including your work availability and wage expectationsWe are an equal opportunity employer and as such we strive to foster a workplace where individual differences are recognized, appreciated and respected.We would like to thank everyone for applying, however due to the volume of applications received only those moving forward to the interview process will be contacted.keywords: bakery, baker, pastry, bread, cake, culinary, gourmet, artisan, community, market, hospitality, fresh food, grocery, retail, supermarket, management, supervisor, team leader, key holder.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $21.00 per hourBenefits:* Dental care* Disability insurance* Employee assistance program* Extended health care* Life insurance* RRSP match* Vision careSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Day shift* Evening shift* Morning shift* Weekends as neededSupplemental pay types:* Bonus payExperience:* Baking: 1 year (preferred)* Supervising: 1 year (preferred)* Food service: 1 year (preferred)Licence/Certification:* Canadian, PR, or Work Permit (required)Work Location: In person
