Based in our regional office in Calgary, Alberta, Nufarm is looking for a Portfolio Manager - Canada reporting to the VP Portfolio Solutions. The Portfolio Manager designs and leads crop strategy implementation at the regional level in accordance with the global crop directives and provides input into the global crop strategy as it relates to all crops while leading the crop strategy for the Canadian Market and providing guidance for the Regional Market. This includes leading new product development for the region and providing leadership as it relates to product life cycle maintenance, and new technology discovery and evaluation with a long-term horizon of 3 – 10 years.

This position will work closely with the functional teams including marketing, commercial, finance, legal and operations teams to optimize revenue and margin within the Canadian market.

What will you be doing?

  • Provides key assumptions and analyse trends for regional crops, markets and industry [1 to 5 years]
  • Design and execute crop strategies for the region with deep insight into the needs of grower customers ensuring adequate pre-commercial engagement [1 to 5 years]
  • Developed specific long-term industry trend analysis against key crops, markets, key molecules, competitors, market shares, and industry initiatives that will assist the commercial business [3 to 10 years]
  • Develop gap analyses for important regional and global crops highlighting key areas of opportunity
  • Develop new product value pricing by crop offer
  • Lead third party (3P) relationships within Canada that meet portfolio and strategic goals
  • Lead the portfolio development projects they are aligned with strategy and complementing the existing product range
  • Build new product value propositions and develop strategic positioning, channel to market and pricing strategies to support.
  • Develop strong industry, academic and grower relationships to improve the portfolio outcomes and make Nufarm a desired partner within Agriculture in Canada
  • Manage the lifecycle of key molecules [and product families] to ensure the business remains relevant and competitive – product lifecycle management and maintaining competitive COGs are critical
  • Manage the product exit and introduction process for the region
  • In tandem with the Product Manager steward new product introduction and transfer to manufacturing processes.
  • Fully utilize Project Management s(PMO365) system to manage new and active development projects within the global new product introduction system
  • Facilitate global active ingredient and product develop projects for inclusion into regional cropping and commercial plans.
  • Drive adoption of new technology in the region acting as a resource for commercial, technical and global teams.

What do you bring?

Nufarm is looking for someone with a degree in Agricultural Science or a similar discipline with extensive experience within a Crop Protection commercial business environment. Are you able to use data to support recommendations? The ideal candidate will be able to understand the local and regional agricultural practices required to make important commercial and product development decisions. Also required will be strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills. There is an advantage to having a deep agribusiness portfolio knowledge and strong project management skills. This role will be benefited from someone with experience managing (negotiate, understand, prioritise, compromise) between local needs and global crop objectives.
