Position Title: Tax Specialist

Location: 100% Remote; Candidates must currently reside in Canada

Type: Contract (12-18 months)

Our clients are seeking a Tax Specialist to support financial operations and ensure compliance with US domestic and international tax regulations. You'll play a pivotal role in managing various tax-related responsibilities with finesse and expertise.

Here's a Snapshot Of What You'll Be Doing

  • Dive into the intricate world of tax returns and remittances, meticulously reviewing and preparing documents to ensure accuracy and timely filing. From US federal and state income tax to quarterly estimates and monthly sales tax returns, you'll keep everything running smoothly.
  • Take charge of documenting US R&D claims, ensuring that every detail is meticulously recorded and compliant with US GAAP standards.
  • Be the point person for handling inquiries from tax authorities, assisting in audit examinations, and ensuring that all correspondence is accounted for and reconciled accurately.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with our diverse teams, offering your tax expertise to support various cross-functional business projects and initiatives.
  • Sharpen your research skills as you delve into US federal and state tax matters, providing insightful analysis and preparing memos to guide the decision-making process.

Here's What We're Looking For In You

  • A degree or diploma in commerce, business administration, or a related field, paired with a professional accounting designation (US CPA / Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant).
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in US corporate taxation, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for problem-solving.
  • Bonus points if you have experience in Canadian income taxation—it's definitely a plus
  • Familiarity with a variety of tax software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for engaging with colleagues and external advisors effectively.
  • You're a master of organization, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering results, no matter the challenge.
