Position Overview

As an Architectural Designer, you will primarily focus on Schematic Design, bringing innovative ideas from concept through to design realization on mid to high rise buildings. You will also engage in Pre-Design, Design Development, production drawing, project coordination, and client interfacing as project needs vary. This role suits a flexible professional eager to contribute across multiple phases of our projects, ensuring excellence and growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design and Presentation:

  • Produce high-quality drawings, models, and renderings for presentations on mid to high rise buildings.
  • Develop schematic designs and detailed modeling in SketchUp and Revit, including aspects like massing, space planning, and suite layouts.
  • Design building elevations and create comprehensive drawings and sample boards for approvals.
Project and Client Management:

  • Collaborate with head of architecture to manage project schedules and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Handle client communications and deliver presentations at key project phases (30%, 60%, and 90% completion).
  • Represent the company and client's vision effectively to all stakeholders, ensuring design intentions are executed.
Regulatory and Site Coordination:

  • Coordinate the site plan approval process with various consultants, handling related drawings and documentation like site plans, floor plans elevations, shadow studies and other drawings as required.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor the construction process and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Review and prepare documentation for compliance with the Ontario Building Code (OBC). (OBC matrix preparation)
  • Other duties as required
Requirements:

  • Membership in the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) or eligibility for membership preferred, but not required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience applying best practices in architectural design or a related role.
  • At least 3 years of experience working on mid to high-rise development projects.
  • Exceptional graphic and 3D rendering skills, along with proven abilities in presentation design (portfolio submission required).
  • Strong proficiency with software including MS Office, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, Revit, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a small, energetic team environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently, exhibiting strong organizational skills.
