Subject Matter Expert - Mass Timber Construction
Corporate Development, Applied Research & International – Centre for Continuing Education & Professional Studies /
SAIT’s Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) focuses on non-credit programs supporting corporate training, the individual learner and international projects. We complete all background activities required to set up our products for students to purchase and experience several delivery options.
CDARI is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mass Timber Construction to create curriculum for Continuing Education.
Course Name: Mass Timber Construction
SME Deliverables required for this project: Create Course Schedule, Course Outline, Course Description, Assessments, Engaging Activities, Resources and Slides for Mass Timber Construction
Ensure course materials promote learning and helps to measure and evaluate student’s ability to achieve important, real-world competencies (knowledge, skills, performance tasks, behaviors)
Ensure material is current, relevant, and delivers quality learning experience
Content to align with industry standards, requirements and best practices
Define accurate, clear, specific, relevant learning outcomes for the course
Ensure competencies and learning outcomes are aligned with course content
Update other pertinent information, including required learning materials, software, technology, assessments, modules
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management is required. 2 to 3 year’s knowledge and experience with Construction Management and Mass Timber Products and Construction
~ First-hand knowledge of what employers and industry seek or need in terms of course competencies (knowledge, skills, performance tasks, behaviors)
~ Relevant field experience within the last six (6) months
~ Maintain reliability and accountability to timelines and project milestones 
~ Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
~ Team player – easy to collaborate and work with
~2 years of experience in training or teaching is an asset, preferably in Construction Management
~ Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
~ Project Management Professional (PMP)
~ Previous teaching experience is considered an asset
~ Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle is an asset)
~ Training and knowledge of adult learning fundamentals
~ Formal training or education in facilitation or teaching
~ Formal training in online technologies
