INTERMEDIATE MINE SITE PLANNING & MODELING SPECIALIST Full Time, Permanent Burnaby, BC / Vernon, BC / or Calgary, AB THE OPPORTUNITY: We are seeking an Intermediate Mine Site Planning & Modeling Specialist to contribute to practical, effective solutions in mine site planning and water management. This role, based in either British Columbia or Alberta, is perfect for a technically driven professional who enjoys modeling, tackling complex challenges, and helping mining clients make informed, defensible decisions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior professionals and the Mine Site Planning & Modeling Lead to develop and refine GoldSim models that support mine planning, operations, and environmental permitting. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality projects while expanding your expertise and preparing to take on increased responsibility and leadership within the team. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY: Developing and maintaining GoldSim models to support mine water management, site planning, and permitting activities. Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing site data, including climate, hydrology, water balance, and infrastructure, to inform model inputs and assumptions. Running simulations, performing sensitivity analyses, and interpreting model results to generate actionable insights for mine planning and operational decisions. Preparing well-structured technical documentation, reports, and visual materials that clearly communicate modeling approaches and outcomes. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, hydrologists, and environmental specialists to integrate modeling results into design and permitting workflows. Supporting field programs through data collection, site assessments, and on-site investigations as needed. Enhancing modeling tools, workflows, and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency. Participating in client meetings and technical discussions while working under the mentorship of senior staff. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental, Mining, or Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geoscience, or a related discipline. Designation or eligibility with EGBC or APEGA as an EIT, P.Eng., GIT, or P.Geo. (eligibility for professional registration in BC is considered an asset). 7+ years of relevant experience in mine water management, hydrology, or environmental modeling as a P.Eng. Proficiency in GoldSim for water balance or system modeling (experience with probabilistic and stochastic modeling considered an asset). Strong understanding of mine water systems, site infrastructure, and environmental permitting processes in British Columbia. Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated technical writing proficiency. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Self-motivation, initiative, and accountability with a commitment to teamwork and continuous learning. Valid driver’s license in good standing. Ability to perform fieldwork, including equipment handling, travel to remote locations by vehicle, boat, or air, and outdoor site work in varied weather and terrain conditions. COMPENSATION: $124,000 – 140,000/year
