What We’re Looking ForAs a backend software engineer you’ll join our Customer Identity, Risk, and Compliance team, continuing to reduce risk for our customers and ensure regulatory compliance. Your work will span critical areas of the platform including transaction monitoring (fraud and anti-money laundering), Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), suspicious activity reporting (SAR), account verification, as well as continuing to expand the scope of customer data within the platform.Our ideal candidate is curious and enthusiastic about those areas as well as the broader FinTech ecosystem (but may not have worked in it before) and takes a product and customer-minded approach to solving engineering challenges, particularly when working with those outside of product and engineering.What You’ll DoDevelop application services in Go (Golang)Work with the product team and other engineers to understand financial services challenges and develop solutions to address themBe a leader on the ground and in the codeKeep learning, keep growing and help your team do the sameDetermine process improvements, best practices, and develop new processesEnvision cleaner, simpler ways to solve problemsKeep learning, keep growing and help your team do the sameWork in close partnership with cross-functional teamsMentor Software Engineers to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training opportunitiesWhat You’ll Bring8+ years of professional experience working as a Software EngineerPrior experience with GoExperience with PostgreSQL or other relational databasesExperience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customersOur StackOur platform is built in Go (for backend services) and React with Typescript (for the Synctera Console, our frontend). We’re built on top of Google Cloud Platform and typically use Postgres (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB), Redis (Cloud Memorystore), and Pub/Sub as our core application stack, with OpenAPI specifications being used to both document our API and be the foundation for inter-service communication.Our infrastructure is predominantly a mixture of Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine) and Cloud Run (Google’s serverless compute platform), with Terraform orchestrating infrastructure, and tools like Argo facilitating deployments.Diversity & InclusionSynctera is committed to having a workforce that is reflective of the diversity within the United States and Canada.
