The Digital Project Management Office (PMO) team plans and implements key strategic Digital programs and projects to deliver outcomes benefiting UHN and the health system. We apply best practices for managing projects, change, and risk to ensure high quality deliverables, effective coordination of resources, and transparent progress reporting. Members of the PMO work in close partnership with a broad range of stakeholders, bringing the right teams together to streamline the demand, end-to-end delivery, and operational services in order to mobilize change and achieve value.
An exciting opportunity is available to showcase your talents as a Senior Project Manager (Digital Redevelopment) on Project Aspire – the multi-year project to build a new state-of-the-art surgical and patient tower at Toronto Western Hospital, enabled by digital solutions.
We are seeking a highly proficient project and change management leader who will oversee leading-edge information, communication, and automation technology (ICAT) implementations that benefit patients and clinicians. Examples of solutions include network infrastructure, building management systems, a real-time location system, integrated bedside terminals for smart patient rooms, audio/visual systems, and expansion of UHN’s core health information and business applications throughout. Collaborate with construction and architectural partners, clinical and business stakeholders and Digital subject matter experts to establish program/project roadmaps and detailed requirements and specifications
Assume overall end-to-end ownership of program planning and delivery for a mix of projects, including large initiatives with complex technical, change management, and operationalization requirements
Mobilize a cross-functional team with the right mix of talent and skills to execute on of short-term and long-term plans
Establish and maintain strong program and project management office controls, including management of scope, schedule, budget, procurement, financial and value delivery
Manage and coach assigned project management staff; this includes responsibilities for recruiting, staff development, performance management and resource allocation
Maintain a strong focus on governance, change management and communications with an emphasis on outcomes, value delivery, and customer service
Proactively identify and manage risks and issues with appropriate escalation to senior leadership
Oversee procurement and delivery of goods and services, manage vendor contracts and relationships
Be part of an on-call leadership rotation schedule to support UHN Digital’s emergency response to critical information system downtimes
Contribute to continuous improvement of project and change management tools and processes within the Project Management Office Centre of Excellence
Minimum 7 years Project Management experience required
Minimum 5 years Program Management experience preferred
Undergraduate Degree in Health Informatics or Administration, Technology, Science, Business, or related field required
Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
Experience in delivery of ICAT projects in healthcare organizations required
Excellent team building, coaching, and group facilitation skills
Excellent presentation, writing and training skills
Excellent budget management skills and proficiency in data analytics to support IT investments
Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large, complex programs with diverse teams using full-cycle project management, program management, and change management methodologies required
Experience in formal procurement processes, contract negotiations, and vendor management required
Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills at the executive and senior management level
Proficient use of computer software, and peripheral equipment (e.g. M365 tools, MS Project, MS Visio, and scrum or enterprise work management tools such as Kanban, Atlassian JIRA, ServiceNow)
Government organization and a member of the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP )
