True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programming for boys and girls ages 4 to 14 in Toronto and Etobicoke. We offer baseball, flag football, basketball, soccer and multi-sport summer day camps as well as after-school and weekend programs during the fall, winter and spring. At True North, we believe that recreational sports are an important part of every child’s development and we make it our top priority to deliver a truly memorable experience.

True North Sports Camps was created by the founders of North Toronto Baseball Camp, and since 2007 our goal has remained the same: to provide the highest quality sports instruction in a fun, safe and encouraging environment.

At True North Sports Camps we are committed to creating the best possible experience for every camper and great staff are vital to achieving that goal While developing the campers’ athletic skills is certainly important, our core focus is creating a positive environment for our participants, allowing them to have fun and forge lasting friendships.

Summer Camp Details

Camp operates weekly in July and August from 8:30am – 4:00pm (with extended care from 8:00am until 5:00pm) Monday to Friday. This summer, camp will operate for 9 weeks (July 1 – August 30). We are hiring Camp Counsellors (Coaches) for the following camps:

Mid-Town Toronto:

  • Baseball Camp
  • Junior Baseball Camp
  • Flag Football Camp
  • Basketball Camp
  • Junior Basketball Camp
  • Soccer Camp
  • Multi-Sport Camp

Leaside:

  • Multi-Sport Camp

North York

  • Baseball Camp
  • Elite Baseball Camp

Etobicoke:

  • Multi-Sport Camp

Responsibilities

Camp Counsellors (Coaches) will be responsible for leading a skill group, which includes providing outstanding instruction while fostering a fun and encouraging environment. Successful candidate’s responsibilities will be, but are not limited to, the following:

Pre-Camp (June)

  • Attendance and participation in mandatory staff training that is currently expected to occur the weekend of June 22/23, although this date is subject to change.

At Camp (July & August)

  • Leading a skill group:
  • Ensuring all campers feel welcome and stay safe (well hydrated and protected from the sun)
  • Prepare and execute lessons, drills and games from your skill group
  • Complete weekly scouting reports for campers in your skill group
  • Provide coaching instruction in a manner that takes individual differences in skill and learning styles into account
  • Lead large group games and activities within your cohort - get involved with the campers
  • Follow camp-wide policies and procedures, (i.e., Hand sanitation, phones/tablets away during camp, regular headcounts, garbage pick-up, etc.)
  • Participate in daily staff meetings
  • Assist the Camp Directors in tracking and organizing camp equipment, supplies, t-shirts and prizes
  • Some senior-level Coaches may be asked to supervise, mentor and evaluate a member of our Coach-in-Training Program

If selected, applicants will be invited to attend a 30-minute online Zoom interview with a member of our Camp Leadership Team.

Please note that applicants must be 16 as of December 31 st , 2024 to apply.

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
