Job Summary:

The Senior Shipper/Receiver is responsible for coordinating the shipping and receiving operations which includes timely and accurate handling of manufacturing materials and equipment, maintaining accurate documentation, monitoring inventory levels, implementing process improvements and collaborating with others to meet organizational goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct the responsibilities outlined below as directed by the Manager .

Shipping & Receiving :

  • Oversee the packaging of all customer items in a timely, accurate and safe manner, ensuring they are identified properly with appropriate customer information and documentation.
  • Facilitate the transportation of materials across the United States and Canada including coordinating with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to arrange transportation and clearances for international shipments; ensure compliance with customs regulations and documentation requirements for international shipments.
  • Receive incoming materials and products, verifying their accuracy against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Process shipping purchase orders and receive as shipments are completed.
  • Liaise with the purchasing department to resolve any receiving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading shipping manifests, customs paperwork, Material Test Reports, and packing slips.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate with internal teams, suppliers, and logistics partners to provide updates on shipping status, troubleshoot and address any issues in a professional and timely manner.

Inventory Management:

  • Aid supply chain during regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock vs job type receiving to ensure proper inventory movement.

Quality Control :

  • Monitor quality of work and throughput and notify the Manager of any issues or potential problems.
  • Inspect and record the condition of received goods, identifying, reporting, and addressing any discrepancies or damages.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and optimize logistics workflows.

General

  • Ensure the work area is organized and free of unnecessary obstructions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to team members.
  • Attend meetings, draft minutes, update agenda(s)
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certifications in logistics or supply chain management are preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years shipping/receiving experience that includes experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • ERP experience required (Genius experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control practices and equipment operating principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multi-task, organize, manage time, and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, customer service, team, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Forklift certification and experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet the physical and sensory demands of the position.

Contacts:

Internal shop staff, engineering, vendors, sales representatives, truckers, contractors, external customers, and customs brokers to exchange information, answer questions and problem solve.

  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, using fine motor skills; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Regular lifting and/or moving material (50 lb)
  • Regular vision/sensory demands: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Be exposed to various environmental conditions, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, chemicals, odours, noise and vibration (>80%)
  • Operate machinery, forklifts, and other industrial equipment (50-80%)
  • Wear safety devices, clothing or other safety procedures (e.g., harnesses, safety goggles, ear protection and steel-toed boots) (>80%)
