The Power System Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of engineers, overseeing power system studies, collaborating with different businesses, and driving business development.

The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage both people and projects effectively.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of Power Systems Engineers, including engineers, specialists, interns, and EITs within the Schneider Electric Canada Services Business Unit.
  • Report to the Power Systems Service Operations Director and spend more than 50% of position time on management activities.
  • Remotely manage a geographically diverse technical team across Canada.
  • Provide administrative management for department personnel, including developing training plans and conducting annual reviews for direct reports.
  • Ensure consolidation, sharing, and development of Power Systems Study know-how within the team, including methods and tools.
  • Participate in defining the vision, ambition, and strategy of the team and department.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, technical direction, and quality control for the team and assigned projects.
  • Connect the Power System Engineering team in the Schneider internal ecosystem, including other similar teams in regions or globally, and all projects and services entities in the position area of action.
  • Responsible for Power System Studies business management, including P&L definition, sales support, tendering, team workload and utilization, and execution of advanced engineering.
  • Work with Solutions Sales team to qualify customer needs and present potential power system analysis solutions.
  • Engage in power system business development activities, collaborating with different businesses to grow and develop new focuses on power system studies, power quality studies, Microgrids, power system audits, and digital SLDs.
  • Contribute to driving ETAP business in Canada.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • University degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer certification (P.Eng) with a recognized association of professional engineers.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in power system engineering and design, with at least 3 years of experience as a team manager/supervisor.
  • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as with customers.
  • Evidence of success in managing a group of technical staff.
  • Experienced in partner/customer relationship: active listening skills, ability to understand and analyze needs/requests, and influence and convince decision-makers.
  • Bilingual in English and French (an asset).
  • Very good interpersonal and leading skills: technical curiosity, efficiency, rigor, active listening skills, ability to understand and analyze needs/requests, capacity to set performance targets, give feedback, and evaluate individual and team performance.
