Overview:

As the Maintenance Manager, your role encompasses overseeing the installation, repair, and maintenance of all food manufacturing facilities. Your primary objectives include ensuring the safety and compliance of the facility and production environment according to company standards and food safety regulations, while also maximizing operational efficiency.

Terms:

  • Day shift (flexibility between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm)
  • Salary range: $80,000 to $90,000

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated track record as a maintenance manager within the realm of food manufacturing, or in a supervisory capacity for a minimum of four years.
  • Thorough understanding of food manufacturing machinery, maintenance protocols, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in navigating food safety regulations.
  • Robust organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Certification / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar an asset

Responsibilities:

Maintenance planning & Management:

  • Formulate and execute maintenance protocols and timetables aimed at minimizing downtime, optimizing productivity, and maintaining a consistent maintenance presence throughout the production process.
  • Perform routine inspections to detect and resolve maintenance requirements, with a dedicated emphasis on adhering to both company policies and food safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise all repair and installation endeavors within the facilities, ensuring alignment with production schedules to mitigate operational interruptions.

Team leadership:

  • Supervise and lead the maintenance team, providing training and support to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising safety and quality.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and service providers, negotiating contracts and overseeing their work.
  • Cooperate with production, quality, and other departments to ensure smooth operations within the facilities.
  • Hire and train new recruits within the department.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring timely replenishment.
  • Maintain a system for tracking work orders, equipment history, and maintenance activities.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Reporting to the upper management on maintenance status, needs, inventory, budget, and improvement.

Technical Tasks:

  • Plan and conduct regular maintenance and emergency repairs on a variety of food manufacturing machines and equipment, including mixers, convection ovens, thermoform machines, conveyors, packaging machines, cooling units, blast freezers, and others.
  • Guarantee that all maintenance operations adhere to health, safety, and food safety standards
  • Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance on machinery to prevent unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.

Equipment Improvement and Procurement:

  • Assess the current performance of equipment and propose enhancements or replacements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Research, select, and purchase new machinery that aligns with the company’s goals and budget.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring it meets all operational and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the production teams to assess equipment needs and integrate new technologies into the production process.

Working Conditions:

  • May require on-call duty and the ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Work involves physical activity, exposure to manufacturing noise, and working in cold conditions.
