The Opportunity

We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Finance & Special Projects, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, maintaining financial data integrity, and providing essential support across various financial operations. Your contributions will directly support the Finance Team and Corporate Strategy & Services division in achieving our organizational goals.

Primary Responsibilities

 Duties include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Processing accounts payable invoices accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining meticulous records and ensuring proper authorization of accounts payable invoices.
  • Assisting with reconciling financial statements and preparing reports for month-end and year-end financial analysis.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data by maintaining detailed records and reconciling accounts.
  • Supporting the input and verification of financial transactions, including journal entries and bank deposits.
  • Providing essential support to the Finance Team and Corporate Strategy & Services division by maintaining financial data and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to address inquiries and resolve issues related to accounts payable and financial transactions.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.

What We Want from You
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply public sector accounting standards and procedures.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to structure daily activities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as accounting software.
  • Two years of related experience required.
  • Diploma in Accounting required; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
