Global Affairs Canada requires a hybrid work arrangement with specific days in the office and the other days working remotely. Full-time teleworking is not an option. The Trade Commissioner Service has on-the-ground presence in 161 cities worldwide and offices in regions across Canada.
Helping Canadian companies that have researched and selected their target markets meet their international business objectives through the provision of strategic advice and information, and by leveraging private and public sector networks;
• Analyzing, planning, implementing and promoting activities, initiatives or projects related to trade programs and services that support Canadian business as they engage in global commerce or that promote foreign direct investment in Canada; Economic development analyses and other activities pertaining to international trade-related policies, negotiations, and legislation.

ED1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., commerce, marketing, business administration, economics, international trade or another field related to the position).
Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CO group on June 21, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. EXP1 – Significant* experience working in a field related to (i) business or economic development, (ii) trade promotion, (iii) foreign direct investment attraction, or (iv) science, technology and innovation.
EXP2 – Significant* experience engaging or working with internal or external partners or stakeholders to advance program or policy objectives.

Second Language Writing Skills Self-Assessment

K1 – Knowledge of global economic trends that have an impact on business
K2 – Knowledge of government programs supporting business.
A3 – Ability to communicate effectively in writing
AE1 – Experience working with women-owned businesses or other underrepresented groups (e.g. businesses owned by Indigenous Peoples, Black and racialized Canadians, members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and youth).
AE2 – Experience in planning and organizing events and meetings with elected officials, senior business people or high-level government officials.
AE3 – Experience in project or event management, specifically in planning and delivering activities on budget and working with service providers . To achieve this, selection may be based on qualified candidates self-declaring as belonging to one or more of the following Employment Equity designated groups: aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, women, members of visible minorities in their application.
