The mandate of the Department is to manage land, water, air, wildlife, and forests and lead and coordinate the Government of the Northwest Territories in understanding and adapting to a changing climate. This includes promoting, planning, and supporting the wise and sustainable use of natural resources, and protecting, restoring, and stewarding the environment for the social and economic benefit of all Northwest Territories residents, while maintaining ecosystem health.

Job Information:

Located in Yellowknife, you will be reporting to the Senior Permafrost Scientist. In working with diverse teams of research partners, you will conduct fieldwork across a wide range of geographic settings that characterize NWT. You will have opportunities to apply your project outputs and geoscience knowledge by working with government, community, and Indigenous partners in developing products that support decision making, climate change adaptation, and community resilience.
