Purpose of the role

TerraFixing has demonstrated a small-scale novel gas separation & purification process and system for direct air capture of carbon dioxide. We are now scaling up the technology and preparing for a demonstration project. As a Chemical Process Simulation Engineer, you will be designing, analyzing optimizing our direct air capture process to improve efficiency and minimize energy requirements.

Your Responsibilities will be to:

  • Build and operate process simulation models on industry standard simulation software.
  • Gather relevant data from various sources, such as experimental studies, process specifications, and literature research, to develop and validate simulation models.
  • Design and perform optimization and sensitivity studies using the validated simulation models.
  • Specify requirements of process equipment based on the simulation results.
  • Assist with process troubleshooting.
  • Participate in HazOps, FMEA and Risk assessment.
  • Document reports of process simulation studies undertaken for fast reference and use in the future.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Engineering degree and 5 to 10 years’ experience building and operating chemical process simulation models. Adsorption simulation is highly desired.
  • Preferred experience with OpenFOAM.
  • Chemical process engineering or related roles is beneficial.
  • Practical knowledge of equipment selection, plant operations, and process control.
  • Data analysis and presentation for decision making.
  • Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE).
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strong sense of accountability and a desire to continually improve oneself.
