Editor (PL575)

We are seeking a visionary and experienced Editor ensuring that all written materials are accurate, engaging, and of high quality. You’ll collaborate with writers, designers, and other team members to improve content flow and educate them about best practices for effective writing. Your role involves identifying ways to enhance document coherence and advising clients on specific changes to ensure seamless publication.

This is a remote position - candidates located in Toronto, Canada GTA (available for client meetings)

Responsibilities:

1. Content Coordination:
   • Coordinate the online or print publishing cycle.
   • Manage content areas to maintain consistency and relevance.
2. Publication Standards:
   • Set publication standards and establish clear goals and expectations.
   • Ensure adherence to company guidelines.
3. Story Suggestions:
   • Suggest compelling stories and generate headline ideas aligned with the targeted audience’s preferences.
4. Content Review and Improvement:
   • Oversee layout (artwork, design, photography).
   • Proofread, edit, and enhance stories or pieces for accuracy and clarity.
5. Team Management:
   • Recruit and manage writers and reporters.
   • Collaborate with designers, photographers, advertising reps, and artists.
6. Ethical Compliance:
   • Comply with media law and ethical guidelines.
   • Uphold journalistic integrity.
7. Timeliness and Budget Adherence:
   • Meet deadlines and budget requirements.

Skills and Qualities:

• Proven working experience as an Editor.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills demonstrated through an excellent portfolio.
• Hands-on experience with MS Office and publishing tools like InDesign, Photoshop, or similar software.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices.
• Optimize content for search engines.
• An eye for detail combined with critical thinking.
• Prioritize tasks effectively.
