Job objective

The Quality Engineer/Specialist's main responsibilities will be to set up and structure a quality system, teach quality techniques, detect, identify, and solve problems, and promote quality within all Thorlabs Canada departments, to achieve ISO 9001 certification.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to :

Documentation and process :

  • and maintain the quality system.
  • and maintain quality documentation, such as quality manuals, procedures, work instructions and inspection templates.
  • with Engineering to develop test specifications for newly released products, and inspection templates for newly released products.
  • R&D and Production managers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining inspection and acceptance criteria at the component, subassembly, and final assembly levels.
  • processes and documentation whenever changes are made by engineers and pass on information to production employees.

Customer and supplier returns

  • with various departments and services to inspect and process customer returns.
  • failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints or other field failures.
  • timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
  • suppliers’ performance and conduct audits.

The quality engineer/specialist may be required to travel occasionally to other Thorlabs sites/entities, or to suppliers.

Training and continuous improvement

Training and collaboration with production personnel to continue improving on existing quality awareness.

  • Ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with the approved release processes, requirements, and specifications.
  • audits, including preparing and performing audits, creating reports of findings, determining proper corrective and preventive actions, and closing out audit findings.

In addition to the essential duties and tasks listed above, the person recruited will also:

  • company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

Qualifications

Experience :

Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar position.

Education :

Bachelor's degree in physics, engineering or equivalent

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Basic computer skills such as, but not limited to, Microsoft products.
  • with Quality in an R&D / New Product Development Environment.
  • knowledge of quality management standards (ISO 9001)
  • with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
  • in both French and English, spoken and written.
  • ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Objectif du poste

L’ingénieur(e)/spécialiste qualité aura pour responsabilité principale de mettre en place et structurer un système qualité, d’enseigner les techniques de qualité, de détecter, recenser et résoudre les problèmes et de promouvoir la qualité au sein de l’ensemble des départements de Thorlabs Canada, et ce afin d’obtenir une certification ISO 9001.

Les fonctions essentielles du poste sont les suivantes, sans toutefois s’y limiter :

Documentation et processus :

  • en place et maintenir le système de qualité.
  • et tenir à jour la documentation relative à la qualité, telle que les manuels de qualité, les procédures, les instructions de travail et les modèles d’inspection.
  • avec l’ingénierie pour élaborer des spécifications de test pour les nouveaux produits avant le passage en production
  • le lien entre l’ingénierie R&D et de Production pour établir, mettre en œuvre et maintenir des critères d’inspection et d’acceptation au niveau des composants, des sous-assemblages et des assemblages.
  • à jour les processus et la documentation lors de tous changements effectués par les ingénieurs et transmettre l’information aux employés de production.

Retours clients et Fournisseurs

  • avec les différents départements et services pour inspecter et traiter les retours des clients.
  • les causes de défauts et mettre en œuvre les mesures correctives et préventives pour les problèmes liés aux retours des clients.
  • à ce que les défaillances des fournisseurs, les actions correctives et les actions préventives soient résolues en temps utile.
  • les performances des fournisseurs et mener des audits.

L’ingénieur(e)/spécialiste qualité pourrait être amené(e) à effectuer des déplacements occasionnels dans les autres sites/entités Thorlabs, ou chez les fournisseurs.

Formation et amélioration continue

  • et collaboration avec le personnel de production pour poursuivre l’amélioration de la sensibilisation à la qualité.
  • à ce que, à la suite du transfert de nouveaux produits à la production, les processus, exigences et spécifications soient respectés en tout temps.
  • des audits, y compris, préparer et réaliser des audits, créer des rapports sur les résultats, déterminer les actions correctives et préventives appropriées.
  • à jour et préparer des rapports d’assurance de la qualité.

Outre les fonctions et tâches essentielles énumérées ci-dessus, la personne recrutée devra également :

  • les normes de l’entreprise en ce qui concerne la quantité et la qualité du travail effectué, en exécutant toutes les tâches liées au travail d’une manière conforme à toutes les politiques et procédures de l’entreprise.
  • les politiques, procédures et directives de l’entreprise concernant les normes de comportement sur le lieu de travail dans l’accomplissement des tâches et des missions.

Qualifications

Expérience :

Minimum 3-5 ans d’expérience dans un poste similaire.

Éducation :

Baccalauréat en physique, ingénierie ou équivalent

Connaissances et compétences spécialisées :

  • Connaissances informatiques de base telles que, mais sans s’y limiter, les produits Microsoft.
  • Expérience de la qualité dans un environnement de R&D ou de développement de nouveaux produits.

Connaissance approfondie des normes de gestion de la qualité (ISO 9001)

  • Expérience des outils et techniques d’amélioration de la qualité (Lean, Six Sigma, contrôle statistique des processus et analyse des modes de défaillance et de leurs effets).

Maitrise du français et de l’anglais, oral et écrit.

  • Capacité à travailler dans une atmosphère de groupe et à respecter des normes de qualité élevées.
