Job Description

Raise is hiring a Safety Specialist for Our Client, a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection. This position is a nine (9)-month contract located in Blind River, Ontario. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Description

The safety specialist ensures site and activities comply with the safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) requirements and monitors daily activities to identify hazardous conditions and implementation of safe work procedures.

Role Accountabilities:
  1. Conduct regular work area observations to ensure activities are performed in accordance with site health safety requirements.
  2. Attend site, divisional and corporate safety meetings, contractor meetings, department meetings.
  3. Act as a resource to site employees and supervision on health safety hazards.
  4. Address and document safety suggestions and concerns.
  5. Conduct regular workplace inspections.
  6. Conduct job task observations (JTOs).
  7. Investigate injuries, accidents and near misses as per site corrective action processes.
  8. Complete industrial hygiene sampling and analysis and/or assist in arrangement/ facilitation for external services.
  9. Review completed health safety equipment inspections and complete any follow up.
  10. Complete health safety reviews for new equipment, new products and design changes.
  11. Facilitate and gather information for WSIB and ESDC reporting purposes.
  12. Complete self-assessments, gap analysis and general maintenance of health safety procedures.
Qualifications:

1- 9 years experience conducting and monitoring safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) related training for construction management team personnel and contractors.
Canadian Registered Safety Professional would be strongly preferred.
Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety legislation (preferably federal) and the ability to advise corrective actions and facilitate change.
Strong leadership skills and excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint.
Able to work collaboratively and proactively in a team environment.

Additional Information:

Candidate will need to pass a pre screen drug test.
This role will be Monday to Thursday- 40 hours/week
