Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Program at NAIT

NAIT’s Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program prepares students to install, maintain and repair stationary industrial equipment and mechanical equipment. Students will be instructed on fitting bearings, aligning gears, and shafts, attaching motors and connecting couplings and belts to precise tolerances, and much more such as the service and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program at our Main campus is currently recruiting for continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory, and industry setting
  2. Participate in curriculum development, program reviews, and course reviews
  3. Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  4. Manage instructional delivery online and in a face-to-face environment while setting the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  5. Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  6. Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  7. Respond to student issues
  8. Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
  9. Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
  10. Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  11. Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021, NAIT’s Strategic Plan, and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
  12. Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  13. Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  14. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma
- Completion of a related Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal an asset
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson certificate
- Teaching experience an asset
