ContextDue to our continuing success, we are looking to add a new member to our innovative and close-knit acoustics team.
BKL is involved in a large and diverse range of projects including both architectural acoustics and environmental noise and vibration assessment. We consult to commercial, institutional, health, education, industry, entertainment, arts, transportation, residential, and a variety of other market sectors. Our architectural related work includes room acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical (HVAC) noise control, mechanical and electrical equipment vibration isolation, and outdoor noise propagation. Project delivery methods include traditional delivery (architects, clients), design build, and public private partnership (P3). Our environmental noise and vibration work typically involves baseline monitoring, prediction and assessment, preparation of impact statements, and participation in public meetings and hearings for major transportation and industrial projects.
ResponsibilitiesYour contribution to projects will span the entire duration of the process including preparation of proposals and fee estimates, conducting measurements, analyzing data, acoustical modelling and preparing reports. You will be expected to manage all aspects of your projects, working independently with minimal supervision, but with access to the support and resources you need. You will work collaboratively with other consultants to meet project milestones, managing the contributions of junior and intermediate consultants. In this role, the majority of your time will be chargeable to project work but a proven ability to manage existing and develop new client relationships will also be important. RequirementsCandidates must have excellent analytical skills, a solid understanding of acoustics and very good spoken and written English. Knowledge of current MS Office Suite, drafting and acoustics software applications is expected plus an ability and willingness to learn new tools. Experience with test equipment and methodology for sound and vibration measurements is mandatory. Candidates should be able to establish strong QA/QC procedures and feel comfortable presenting technical reports to clients.
Candidates should have university level education, preferably in the field of engineering with professional registration. A minimum of 4 to 6 years consulting experience in the field of acoustics is required.

CompensationAn annual salary commensurate with experience will be offered with authorized overtime paid at time-and-a-half. Benefits include a generous vacation allowance plus 12 holidays, full cost of health and long-term disability insurance, professional association dues and various other subsidies.
