Position Profile:
The Wildlife Hospital Team Lead is a permanent full-time position, responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of Wildlife Rescue’s medical and rehabilitation program. This essential role supports the supervision of staff and volunteers and ensures the highest standards of care are achieved and maintained. Data management is a high priority, the lead will oversee the accurate and timely entry of patient information into Wildlife Rescue’s Salesforce database.

Wage: $23.00 - $26.00 hourly

Established in 1979, the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild animals and is committed to educating the public on how to coexist peacefully with wildlife. Located in Burnaby, BC, we are western Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with an average of 5,000 animal patients admitted each year.

Highlight of Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the daily animal care, medical treatments, and rehabilitation procedures, ensuring high-quality and consistent care.
• Develop and maintain Wildlife Rescue’s patient release program.
• Lead the supervision and training of Wildlife Hospital personnel, including Wildlife Technicians, RVTs, seasonal staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with the Volunteer Program team to fulfill the volunteer needs of the hospital program.
• Support revenue acquisition through the timely and efficient flow of data to the Advancement team.
• Ensure appropriate policies, protocols and standard operating procedures are developed, adhered to, and reviewed annually.
• Play a key role in the management of Wildlife Rescue’s hospital facilities including oversight of enclosure repairs and maintenance.
• Participate in Human Resource activities for the Hospital program.
• Support the data management practices of the hospital program including the timely and accurate entry of patient information into the organization's Salesforce CRM.

Key Qualifications & Experience
• University degree or diploma in biological sciences, or a similar discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a wildlife rehabilitation setting.
• Supervisory experience with the proven ability to lead and motivate others.
• Experience with wildlife rehabilitation standards of care, husbandry practices, euthanasia, and basic medical procedures.
• Experience working with various bird species, reptiles, amphibians, and bats.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, and a high level of integrity.
• High emotional intelligence, demonstrating self-awareness, social awareness, and empathy.
• Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and be highly adaptable to changing work environments.
• Experience planning and performing treatments including sample collection and lab results analysis, an asset
• Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator certification (CWR) is an asset.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
