What will be your role?

The Senior Director, Strategy Management is a key position in our leadership team for Strategic Solutions & Partnerships (SS&P) department. This role is to provide leadership, strategic direction and oversight in the evolution of the development of a Strategy portfolio for VHA that will include the development of an Office of Strategy Management as well a future Project Management network strategy supporting the needs of all portfolios.

Reporting to the VP, SS&P and working closely with the CEO, this role is accountable for driving, monitoring and achieving both long term and annual organizational strategic goals and deliverables and supporting teams on their team-based deliverables/operating plans and road maps. Driven by a strong lens on Continuous Quality Improvement and a strong understanding of the health care sector, especially as it relates to home and community care and evolving trends for the provision of home and community care in Ontario, the Senior Director utilizes a strategic mindset with a quintuple aim driven systems approach in providing expertise in managing and monitoring the strategic direction of the organization and collaboratively supporting departments within VHA on planning needs related to strategic initiatives including a balanced scorecard/measures of implementation and roll out success.

In addition, this position provides oversight and direction to the change management needs and requirements within the organization and works closely with the Director, Communications to support the communication of strategic direction and initiatives across the organization and externally. This position will ensure that an ESG Environmental, Social and Governance lens and a health equity lens is utilized as a filter for all programs and projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) or a master’s degree in a related health care discipline preferred.
  • Education in strategic planning, strategy development and change management, ideally you possess a relevant certification or designation (e.g. PMP, CCMP, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare working with dynamic and diverse teams, preferably in community health
  • Knowledge and experience in home care, not-for-profit, and charitable community support sectors.
  • Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing complex initiatives with a strategic project management lens with a proven history of authentically driving strategy through projects or initiatives.
  • Political acumen and diplomacy in handling a variety of situations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Experience building relationships and partnerships related to strategy engagement and team integration.
  • Motivated self-starter who works well both independently and with a team to drive results.
  • Displays a professional, positive attitude and maintains enthusiasm.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking/presentations.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to both detail and the “big picture”
  • Flexible; ability to handle the changing health care environment.
  • Ability to prioritize, and to make complex decisions with timely follow-up.

  • High degree of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and comfort driving virtual meetings/engagements.
