Reporting directly to the Supervisor of IT Operations, this senior technical role entails overseeing the network and technology team. This team is tasked with various responsibilities including design, installation, integration, administration, and support services for the Corporation’s network infrastructure and associated software configurations. The primary objective is to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and integrity of the connected technology, facilitating the smooth functioning of business units in fulfilling their responsibilities.
As the senior technical expert, the incumbent proactively monitors network system performance to optimize productivity levels and enhance overall business efficiencies. They are also responsible for executing all technical functions required of Network and Infrastructure team members, particularly in supporting complex projects, system upgrades, and instances requiring senior-level expertise and knowledge. This encompasses tasks such as technical evaluation, design, integration, testing, implementation, maintenance, and management.
This role offers consultative support and hands-on expertise to monitor and fine-tune corporate networks for optimal performance. Active participation in project teams is also essential, serving as a technical resource to aid in the research, selection, evaluation, and implementation of new or upgraded network communications and system software applications.
In collaboration with the supervisor, this position shares responsibility for the development, monitoring, and response of the cyber security program within the town. As the Senior Network and Infrastructure Integrator, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Act as senior technical expert to proactively monitor network and system performance to maximize productivity levels for optimal business efficiencies. Support complex projects, system upgrades and where senior-level experience and knowledge is required. This may include technical evaluation, design, integration, testing, implementation, maintenance, and management. Provide consultative support as well as hands-on expertise to monitor and tune networks and infrastructure for optimal performance.
Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate current programs, processes, and practices to recommend solutions that improve the town’s networks and infrastructure solutions and best practices. Participate and lead project teams as a technical resource to assist in the research, selection, evaluation, and implementation of new or upgraded network, infrastructure, and system software applications.
Develop specifications, test plans, installation, and documentation for various types of network communication hardware and software including new releases.
Recommend and implement the cyber security program at the Town of Caledon, including monitoring and response of any security related incidents. Lead the network team in all resolution efforts.
Also ensure L1/L2 work orders are completed within the SLA and provide aid where required to other team members, helping them resolve L1/2 work orders.
Recommends and deploys disaster recovery tools and techniques, including backup/recovery to support of the business continuity requirements put in place at the Town of Caledon. Responsible for the configuration and operations of the DR site.
We are seekingan IT professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent, along with a blend of industry-recognized certifications and a commitment to ongoing education in the field. Our ideal candidate has 5-9 years of progressive experience in network, data, or systems integration and administration. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the design, installation, and ongoing support of network/data communication technologies and protocols, as well as server operating systems. This includes expertise in LAN & WAN technologies, Firewalls, Load Balance technology, Data centre technology, and storage area networks/technologies.
This candidate will have a proven track record in Cyber Security design and deployment. Expert knowledge in Windows Operating Systems (across all versions) and VMware, including installation, configurations, and maintenance, is essential.
We are specifically seeking an individual with 2-3 years of experience leading technology projects as a subject matter expert (SME), collaborating closely with other IT professionals and business units. Familiarity with business continuity and disaster recovery programs, including their implementation, as well as Cyber Security implementation and configurations, is highly desirable.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
