The School of Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) is hiring an Academic Chair, Culinary Programs . This position reports to the Associate Dean and champions our Culinary programs portfolio, which currently includes: a diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts; a diploma in Culinary Arts; a certificate in Butchery and Charcuterie Management; Cook Apprentice; and dual-credit programs with local schools and indigenous communities. In addition, we bring to life a variety of community-building events and activities that nurture student experience and learning outside of the classroom, including a decades-long history of supporting skills, competitions and study tours. The School of Hospitality and Tourism is actively exploring satellite campuses and international partnerships which may require travel for the successful candidate.
Our school offers year-round student intakes, serving ~800 culinary students per year with world-class programs

Our faculty and students operate The Highwood Kitchen + Bar, Tastemarket Canadian Kitchen; Culinary Campus International Market, 4Nines Diner and Destinations Travel Centre. We also create and execute several events and work hand-in-hand with industry to provide our students with highly relevant experience such as practicums, internships and class project work.
Working collaboratively with the school leadership team, faculty, staff, SAIT community and industry, you will help us on our journey to become recognized as one of the world’s preeminent schools in hospitality, tourism and culinary arts education. You will help share, celebrate and amplify our never-ending and passion-filled journey to excellence. You will help cultivate an environment of inclusion that creates a sense of belonging for all faculty, staff and students.
Planning, Strategy and Operational Management(20%)
Collaborate with the leadership team and other stakeholders as appropriate to help create and drive program strategy.
data analysis; executing SAIT policy; Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Seek out data, best practice and collaboration to inspire our strategic direction and advance our practice of learning.
In collaboration with the Academic Advising team, engage and mentor students throughout their journey.
Build an inclusive learning community where diversity is encouraged and harnessed to enhance educational experience
Nurture relationships to support school strategic priorities and vision.
Support professional development that helps maintain industry relevancy, while advancing excellence in teaching practice.
Nurture a culture of inclusion, community, respect, professionalism and excellence.
Combination of relevant work experience and education may be considered

A Master’s degree or higher in related field
Experience in the research space (scholarly/applied/culinary)
Creative and strategic thinker with sound judgement
These are integral to nurturing the culture we aspire to in the school
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills
Proficient in MS Office (experience in SAIT systems Banner/Tableau - an asset)
