The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery seek Transplant Surgeon to join their team. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatients and outpatients as well as education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The successful candidate will have appointments in both the SHA and the University of Saskatchewan, where teaching of surgical residents and medical students is integral. Participation in the acute care general surgery roster including call is required. Participation in the trauma service will be of consideration.
The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in General Surgery as well as successfully attained fellowship training in abdominal transplant. One must be proficient in abdominal organ procurement including abdominal multi-organ deceased donor organ procurement and living donor laparoscopic nephrectomy. One must also be proficient and competent with kidney transplantation and surgical management of kidney transplant patients. The candidate will have an active interest in research, demonstrated by completion of a post-graduate degree and interest in further developing the research activities of the division and the department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interdisciplinary competence as demonstrated by active participation in multidisciplinary rounds.

University of Saskatchewan (USask) - The beautiful USask campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. USask is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex ( and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine . A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by USask. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
