Bombardier is a global leader, creating innovative and game-changing planes. Our products and services provide world-class transportation experiences that set new standards in passenger comfort, energy, efficiency, reliability and safety. We are a global organization focused on working together with a team spirit.
Title : Simulation Technical Expert, EngineeringYou will be part of the Simulation team in Engineering. The Simulation team is responsible for the development of flight dynamics and systems simulation models to support the engineering teams at Bombardier for the design, development, testing and certification of the aircraft. The team is also responsible to develop and maintain an engineering flight simulator (REFS) easily reconfigurable to adapt to platforms’ needs. The team is supporting all Bombardier platforms including all specialized aircraft.
In your role, you will:
- Develop flight dynamics simulation models (at system and aircraft level). These models are used in the design, validation and certification process of new aircraft, in support of in-service aircraft and for incident investigation. The models are also deployed in training simulators.
- Use data from computational fluid dynamics, empirical aerodynamic estimation methods, wind tunnel tests, and obtain aerodynamic derivatives from flight test data to conceive and update the simulation models.
- Conduct aircraft and system model validation and verification studies.
- Support simulation model users with their analysis (Stability and Control, System Simulation, Fly-by-Wire, Loads, Systems Engineering and Aircraft/Engine Performance groups, and flight simulator manufacturers).
- Document and present technical work to the subject matter experts.
- Work on the continuous improvement of our simulation environment and tools to increase the use of the simulation capabilities using real-time and non-real-time models.
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical engineering, and you are passionate about the aerospace industry.
- You have a minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience in simulation modeling and model-based validation and verification.
- You have a good understanding of flight dynamics and aircraft handling.
- You should be proficient in using Matlab/Simulink (including programming). Knowledge of C, C++, Python is an asset.
- Familiarity with the Simulator Qualification Test Guide (QTG) is an asset.
- Knowledge of how an aircraft is trimmed and how it is interpreted in a simulation environment is an asset.
- Experience in engineering tools development (programming, GUIs) is an asset.
- You are a team player, promoting collaborative approach among teams to achieve the company’s objectives.
- You must have good written and oral communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
Your ideas move people.
