We are looking for a Transportation Engineer to join our team full-time, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week).

The Opportunity

The Transportation Engineer is responsible for providing civil engineering consulting for a variety of transportation-related projects, including planning, design, project management, contract administration, and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage projects of routine to moderate complexity including complete specification and project manuals for various transportation projects with support & direction from management and our Senior Transportation Engineer
  • Coordinate collection of relevant data and information to conduct detailed traffic analysis using acceptable tools and standards with limited supervision
  • Prepare technical reports (ie: TIA’s) with limited supervision
  • Instruct drafter in creating drawings, as required
  • Provide technical advisory services for transportation projects within the Land group
  • Prepare traffic impact studies and assessments, transportation master plans, corridor studies, multi-mode transportation, route selection studies, parking studies, and functional planning and design, traffic signalization planning and programming.
  • Ensure internal project management documentation and databases (schedules, prices, client information, client contract, internal engineering budget, proposal scope, etc.) are maintained
  • Act as or work with Project Manager by coordinating with stakeholders on project schedule, cost, deliverables/scope. Ensure these items are well understood and executed as planned
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure completed work meets client expectations, jurisdiction standards and business unit standards.
  • Develop project budgets, verify contract expenditures, and prepare invoicing, ensuring all related documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Build/retain existing client relationships and seek out new opportunities through communication, meetings and other networking opportunities

What you have

Education/Experience

  • Must be authorized to work in Canada
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • A Professional engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of transportation planning and design software
  • Proficient in transportation planning/engineering
  • Knowledge and experience in construction processes
  • Knowledge of transportation planning best practices and current trends
  • Familiar with the Transportation Association of Canada’s (TAC) design manual
  • Knowledge of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC)
  • Ability to write technical reports
  • Civil engineering principles, specifically in the municipal, transportation, water and/or earth work disciplines including general civil construction practices
  • Proficient in project management and contract administration principles
  • Knowledge of computer systems and the ability to work with a variety of software applications including file management applications and the Microsoft Office Suite
