As a  Construction Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success of  IRL Construction Ltd by assisting in the estimation of costs associated with construction projects and in turn securing lucrative contracts. Your primary responsibilities include analyzing project specifications, conducting site visits, and collaborating with various stakeholders to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates.
This role is based out of our Head Office in the South False Creek area located close to Downtown Vancouver. You will also be required to conduct frequent site visits across the Lower Mainland and BC.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Analysis : Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand the scope of work. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather necessary information.
Site Visits : Conduct on-site visits to assess the existing conditions, potential challenges, and project-specific requirements. Document findings and communicate relevant information to the estimating team.
Cost Estimation : Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead. Analyze historical data and industry trends to ensure accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
Quantity Takeoffs : Perform quantity takeoffs from project drawings to determine the amount of materials and labour required for the project. Verify takeoffs against project specifications to identify any discrepancies.
Vendor and Subcontractor Relations : Obtain and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors to incorporate into the overall cost estimate. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
Bid Preparation : Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring that all relevant information is included. Collaborate with the bidding team to develop a comprehensive and competitive bid strategy.
Documentation and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of project estimates, correspondence, and related documentation. Generate reports on cost estimates, variances, and other relevant information for management review.
Communication : Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to clarify project requirements and address inquiries.
Professional Development : Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and cost factors to enhance estimating skills.

Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
Minimum of 2 years direct estimating experience. Ideally in the residential and commercial projects.
Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.
