Our client is expanding and seeking an Automation Engineer for a full-time, permanent position based in Carlow. This presents an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established company operating in the water industry.
The ideal candidate will have a background in PLC, strong interpersonal skills, proven industry experience, and an ability to thrive under pressure. While primarily office-based, this role requires on-site presence during commissioning phases, focusing extensively on PLC programming and SCADA development.
Personally managing automation projects from initial briefing through design, FDS development, programming, FATs, commissioning, and providing comprehensive support and documentation to various departments and clients.
# Oversight of systems, software, and electrical drawings.
# Control, development, and adaptation of software across various PLC systems.
# Designing automation systems and networks, alongside SCADA systems implementation.
# On-site validation and commissioning of PLC, instrumentation, and electrical control systems.
# Diagnosing faults and making modifications to existing control and automation systems.
# Conducting Factory Acceptance Tests on control panels to ensure adherence to approved documentation and relevant standards.
# Monitoring and optimizing instrumentation, PLC, and electrical control systems.
# Coordinating with electrical and mechanical teams to achieve project commissioning objectives.
# Conducting site acceptance tests and securing system sign-off with clients.
# Collaborating with all departments to ensure timely project delivery and adherence to quality standards.
# Providing on-site support for project installations and emergency call-outs.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in PLC solutions, with a minimum of 3 from the following: Proficiency in field bus/communication protocols: Experience in automating electronic instruments and drive networks.
Demonstrable expertise in control systems design and application.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of the water and wastewater treatment industry.
Possession of a clean Irish driving license.

10+ years of experience in a mechanical/electrical engineering environment.
3rd level Qualification in Engineering/Technology.
Knowledge of the water industry is advantageous but not essential.
