The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing immersive applications and experience using popular SDKs for Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The role involves creating simulated videos, VR/AR video stitching from cameras, and developing VR videos for VR headsets.RESPONSIBILITIES:XR Development:Design, develop, and implement immersive VR/AR applicationsUtilize popular SDKs and standards (such as ARKit, ARCore, Vuforia, OpenXR1.0 etc.) to create interactive experiencesWork with game engines like Unity, Unity 3D and Unreal Engine 4/5 to build and optimize VR/AR environments and simulationsExperience with popular headset platforms (Oculus, Pico, HTC, Varjo, Valve etc.)Simulated Videos:Develop high-quality simulated videos for various XR applicationsEnsure videos are optimized for performance on different VR/AR platformsCollaborate with design and production teams to integrate simulated videos into XR experiencesVR/AR Video Stitching and Overlay:Implement VR/AR video stitching techniques using multi camera setupsCreate seamless 180 to 360-degree VR videos for VR headsetsDevelop algorithms and workflows to improve video stitching quality and efficiencyHead tracking functionalityTechnical Leadership:Lead and mentor junior developers in XR development projectsConduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure high-quality code standardsStay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in XR developmentCollaboration and Communication:Work closely with cross-functional teams including designers, artists, and project managersParticipate in project planning, providing technical insights and estimationsCommunicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are metQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in software development with at least 3 years focused on XR developmentProficiency in using Unity and Unreal Engine 4 and 5 for VR/AR developmentStrong understanding of popular XR SDKs such as ARKit, ARCore, Vuforia, and othersExperience with video processing, including video stitching techniques for 360-degree video creationExperience with video processing technologies such as ffmpeg, gstreamerProficient in programming languages such as C#, C++, and JavaScriptSolid understanding of 3D mathematics and physicsExperience with shader programming and optimization for real-time rendering.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environmentExcellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersNICE TO HAVEExperience with 3d (mono and steroscopic) game development.Experience with machine learning and computer vision techniquesFamiliarity with cloud services and APIs for XR applicationsKnowledge of UI/UX design principles for immersive experiencesExperience with collaborative development tools such as Git, JIRA, and ConfluencePassion for emerging technologies and a strong desire to stay on the cutting edge of XR developmentCOMPENSATION:Competitive base salary based on experienceAPPLICATION:Please submit your resume application to recruitment@herculesdynamics.com with Subject Line: Software Development Engineer - XR Development - NAME.Hercules Dynamics is an equal opportunity employer.
